3D Whatever

I'd like to take a minute just sit right there about a little thing called 3D. More like 3Don't ahaha ok no seriously why is everyone getting their pants in a twist about this? It's the next big thing, it'll revolutionise gaming and films. 3D has been around a lot longer than anybody really thinks as far back as the 50's. There's a reason it hasn't caught on by now. Yes granted films like Avatar make good use of the technology but only if you spend the extra cash to shoot the entire film in 3D and work in scenes that fit around it. But then there are the other films like the recent Clash of the Titans which was reworked into 3D and does not pull it off convincingly.

I may be a tad biased as 3D has the tendency to sometimes make me feel sick. But i can't be the only one that has this physical aversion and that alienates a portion of it's audience. 3D feels more like a fad but unfortunately the band wagon seems to be getting rather full. And while we're on the subject of fads, motion controls. I mean come on the wii is fun at certain times but for a hardcore game like myself the idea of jumping around my living room with 2 remotes in hand or with Natal is not something i look forward to. I play video games because i can't leap 30ft into the air wielding a sword twice my height to slay a dragon. If used correctly then i can see them having a valued place in the computer game market. But as the past of the entertainment industry shows, over saturation is almost a guaranteed certainty. For every great game that utilisies Playstation Move or Microsoft's Natal there will be 10 other cash ins and that's what's going to ruin it for me.

On a comic book related side note, just finished reading Astonishing X-Men: Gifted by Joss Whedon. All i can say is i love this guy. The book is well written with great characters, excellent pacing and the art by Cassidy is superb. What i love most about Whedon is his dialogue, comic book characters have a tendency to sound overly cliche but with Whedon everything sounds so natural.
